accepting my body

I think I’ve had the same body type since I was 15 years old. I could never gain weight or muscle no matter how many squats I did or how much food I ate. I’ve been laughed at and told I was “flat” “built like a little boy” or even “too skinny” Learning to love my body was a journey that involved self-acceptance and positive practices. These are some tips on what I started doing to change my outlook on how I felt about myself.

The most important thing was I started treating myself with kindness. Also remember that everyone has insecurities and you’re never alone. I then started to appreciate what my body can do for me, whether it’s strength or even simply just being healthy. I then started to follow body-positive influencers, read uplifting content, and spend time with only positive people. I spend a lot of time on social media so this was very important.

When you I caught myself thinking negatively about my body, I reframed those thoughts into something positive or. I tried my best to avoid comparing myself to others, especially on social media. I kept reminding myself that everyone’s journey was unique.

Loving your body takes time, so be patient with yourself as you work through this journey.

... Read moreAccepting your body can be a challenging journey, especially in today's society where unrealistic beauty standards prevail. To truly embrace body positivity, it is essential to focus on your strengths and unique qualities. Start by surrounding yourself with supportive people and body-positive influencers who encourage self-love. Mindful practices such as positive affirmations can transform negative thoughts into healthier perspectives. Remember to be patient with yourself—self-acceptance is a gradual process, and each step forward is significant. Engaging in activities that make you feel good about yourself, whether it’s exercise, art, or hobbies, can enhance your self-esteem. Remember, social media can often distort reality; it's crucial to limit comparisons with others. Recognize that every individual's journey is unique, and celebrate your own progress. Practicing gratitude, celebrating minor victories, and seeking support from communities that promote body positivity can significantly improve your mindset. It's about learning to appreciate what your body does for you, not just how it looks. Make it a priority to connect with those who uplift and inspire you, fostering an environment of authenticity and acceptance. In essence, loving your body requires time, kindness, and effort. Stay committed to your journey, and over time, you will cultivate a deeper appreciation for your body and self-worth.
