Kubah National Park - Part 2

Kubah National Park, Kuching, Sarawak — Part 2 🥾🌳

We almost KO-ed! 😂 It took us more than 2.5 hours to get out from the trail, not including the additional 900m concrete road. Definitely one unforgettable adventure! 💪🌿

Moral of the story : Do all these tough hikes while we’re still young & full of energy! 🤣 But seriously… time to keep fit liao! 😆

While walking down, we met a kind Pakcik taking his cigarette break. We asked if he could give us a ride downhill on his motorcycle 🏍️ — and he kindly helped us out! Of course, I gave him some kopi & petrol money. ❤️

Huge thanks to Bvan for driving us safely back home! 🚗

Tired, sore, but totally worth the adventure! 🌳🥾

... Read moreFrom my own hiking experiences in tropical national parks, I can truly relate to the journey described in the article about Kubah National Park. Trails that take several hours often push us to our limits but provide the most memorable moments, from the exhaustion felt after a grueling climb to the small kindnesses experienced along the way. In Kubah National Park, besides the physically demanding stairs and lengthy trails, there’s a unique opportunity to connect with local culture, as illustrated by the encounter with the Pakcik who kindly offered a motorcycle ride downhill. Carrying some local currency to tip for such acts of generosity is a good practice, and it enriches the adventure. Walking down a long concrete path after rugged trails may feel anticlimactic, but it gives you a chance to reflect on the hike and enjoy the surrounding tropical forest in a more relaxed way. These parks often have diverse flora and fauna; keep an eye out for the park’s famous pitcher plants and colorful butterflies. Preparing for such hikes means wearing sturdy footwear and carrying enough water and snacks, especially for ventures lasting over two hours. It’s also smart to start early in the day to avoid hiking during the hottest hours. For those aiming to visit Kubah National Park, I recommend reading recent trail reports or local guides since trail conditions can change with the weather. Staying fit and ready for challenges is vital, as the article’s lighthearted reminder emphasizes—the best time to tackle tough hikes is when you have the energy, but ongoing fitness helps you keep enjoying these adventures over time. In summary, exploring Kubah National Park offers a blend of natural beauty, physical challenge, and cultural interaction, making it a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts headed to Kuching, Sarawak.

Where I’ve hiked so far as a beginner⛰️🥾
I love being anywhere near nature, and most of the time I try to squeeze in a short hike while travelling. In recent years, I decided to be a little more adventurous and started going on overnight hikes. I’ve kind of become one of those people who travel just to hike (pushing 30s thing 🤭). I cam
