growing closer with my family as I got older 💭
Family time hits different these days. I’ve lived across the state from my family for almost 15 years now, and even though we don’t get to see each other as often, the bond has only grown stronger with time.
Through all the life stages: growing up, navigating adulthood, facing our own challenges, we’ve become closer in ways I never expected. Shared experiences and growing up has created a deeper understanding between my family and myself.
One of my favorite things now? Me and my siblings are finally at that age where we can plan trips together! It’s something we all look forward to (whether it’s a weekend trip, a vacation, etc), and it gives us quality time to reconnect and make new memories.
Growing up as the oldest, I used to feel like my siblings couldn’t really relate to the things I went through. But now that we’ve all lived a little, made mistakes, and grown in our own ways, the connection feels more equal, more real and honest.
I love that I can FaceTime my family for hours these days. We laugh, reminisce, and talk about things we were once too shy or afraid to share. There’s something so healing about that.
