What reparenting myself in my 30s looks like…🫂

I used to think healing just meant “moving on” but in my 30s, I’ve learned it’s also about reparenting myself.

It’s about giving myself the things I never fully received growing up. The love, the patience, the gentleness… the permission to just BE.

Here’s what that looks like for me now:

Allowing myself to indulge, even when I don’t feel like I’ve “earned it”

🗣️ Speaking kindly to myself, not just when I succeed, but especially when I’m struggling

💞 Forgiving myself for not having it all figured out (to be honest, I probably never will and that’s ok)

Understanding that mistakes can be fixed and I don’t have to carry shame forever

🧘🏽‍♀️ Letting go of guilt around rest, joy, and softness

💗 Caring for myself more, and criticizing myself less

It’s not always easy, but it’s healing and I’m proud of the version of me who keeps showing up even when it’s hard.

Can you relate? Let me know in the comments how you’ve had to reparent yourself as an adult.

... Read moreReparenting yourself in your 30s is a transformative journey of healing that involves addressing unmet childhood needs such as love, patience, gentleness, and permission to simply be. It often begins with learning to speak kindly to yourself, especially during struggles, rather than only celebrating successes. This process includes forgiving yourself for not having life completely figured out and recognizing that mistakes are opportunities for growth rather than reasons for shame. An important part of reparenting is understanding that indulgence and self-care are not rewards to be earned but necessities for mental and emotional well-being. Letting go of the guilt surrounding rest, joy, and softness allows you to appreciate your humanity and prioritize self-compassion. Reparenting also means less self-criticism and more active caregiving toward your inner emotional needs, which fosters resilience and self-acceptance. Healing your inner child involves embracing vulnerability and acknowledging feelings that may have been suppressed. Techniques such as mindfulness, journaling, and therapy can help reconnect you with your authentic self and address past wounds. By nurturing your inner child, you develop a stronger foundation for adult relationships and personal growth. The journey of reparenting is not always easy, but it is deeply healing. It fosters a healthier self-relationship, greater emotional freedom, and a sense of peace that comes from honoring your experiences and needs. Many find that this ongoing self-reparenting helps them thrive socially and professionally as they enter their 30s and beyond. If you resonate with this journey, consider exploring practices such as positive affirmations, restorative self-care routines, and compassionate self-dialogue to support your ongoing healing. Sharing your experiences with others can also provide community support and encouragement as you reparent yourself into a more fulfilled and authentic life.

What Reparenting My Inner Child Looks Like
I didn’t grow up with emotionally safe adults. No one taught me how to process feelings, set boundaries, or feel secure in myself. So I had to become that for myself. Reparenting has looked like checking in with my emotions instead of suppressing them. It’s saying, “You’re allowed to feel that,”
