If it's too far back, you'll hit under it; too far forward, and you'll be chasing it out of bounds. Finding that sweet spot takes practice, but it's worth every minute! Once you've got your toss dialed in and your footwork flowing, it's all about making that perfect contact. This is where the magic of the float serve really happens! You want to hit the ball dead center, with a flat, open hand, almost like you're slapping it. The goal is to minimize spin, which is why a firm wrist and a quick snap through the ball are essential. Don't try to roll over it or put topspin on it; think about pushing it forward without rotation. I used to struggle with hitting it too low or too high, but focusing on hitting the exact middle of the ball changed everything for me. It’s a feeling you'll recognize when you get it right – a clean, crisp sound, and the ball just seems to hang in the air. So, imagine this: your three steps (left, toss, right, left for righties, or right, toss, right, left for lefties) lead directly into that perfect toss, and then you explode upwards, meeting the ball cleanly with a flat hand.
