I remember being warned about side effects such as dizziness, so I learned to advise patients to rise slowly from sitting to prevent falls. Another class of medications, 5-alpha reductase inhibitors like finasteride, works by shrinking prostate size over months of use. This helps in long-term management but requires patient education about the delayed onset of symptom relief.
