A number of Windows 11 users began reporting problems after installing update KB5094126, the system's latest update. Although Microsoft has yet to officially confirm that it is a big bug on its Known Issues page, reports from several users indicate that it has experienced several forms of abnormalities, ranging from file deposit apps not available through File Explorer to boot system and skyscreen problems.

One of the much-discussed issues is that OneDrive and Dropbox are not normally available through File Explorer. After installing the KB5094126 update, with some users stating that activating User Account Control or UAC back allows these services to be re-used, it has been noted that this issue may be related to the closure of UAC.

In addition to app and cloud service problems, some users experience stale, unbooted, or unexpectedly enter the BitLocker Recovery screen, requiring a BitLocker Recovery Key to unlock the machine. This can be a hassle for general users and IT parties in the organization, especially if the Recovery Key is not backed up in advance.

The report that received the most attention came from several HP computer users, who experienced sky screen symptoms after installation of KB5094126 with error code 0xc0430001, with predictions that it may be related to Secure Boot section updates and boot.stl files used to verify the authenticity of Windows system boot files.

In Microsoft's supporting documentation, there are instructions to system administrators to check if the boot.stl file is available in Windows installation media, and to recommend the use of the WinPE Script Update Tool to completely update the installation image, especially in cases where an organization uses a custom installation file or Windows image.

At the same time, there have also been reports from some users who found stale on Lenovo PCs after installing this update, making the problem probably not limited to HP computers, but according to the information available now, it is not yet possible to conclude whether all the problems were caused by the same cause.

Currently, Microsoft has not issued any further patch and has not added these issues to the official Known Issues list. Windows 11 users who have not installed KB5094126, especially corporate users or BitLocker-enabled machines, should backup and retain BitLocker Recovery Key before updating. Those who have already installed it and have encountered problems may need to consider temporarily withdrawing the update or awaiting further clarification and patches from Microsoft.
