Beat Exam Anxiety!

Exams can be so overwhelming, I totally get it. There have been times when I felt frozen just looking at the first question on the page. But over the years, I’ve found a few things that really help me stay calm and focused.

One of my go-to strategies is starting with the easier questions first. It’s such a confidence boost to get those wins early on, and it frees up time for the tougher ones later. I used to waste so much time stuck on one hard question, but now I’ve learned to move on when I’m stuck and come back later with fresh eyes, it’s like magic how often the answer clicks when I do that!

The biggest thing, though? Trusting my preparation. I remind myself of all the hours I’ve put in, the notes I’ve reviewed, and the practice I’ve done. It’s not about knowing everything - it’s about doing your best with what you’ve got. That little mindset shift has made a huge difference for me.

What about you? How do you stay calm under pressure during exams? Comment ✏️ and let me know! Let’s crush this exam season together! 😊

... Read moreHey fellow students! I know that feeling all too well – that knot in your stomach when a big exam is looming, especially something as huge as college entrance exams. Feeling like time is slipping away, your foundation is shaky, and focusing feels impossible? You're not alone, and I’ve been there. While my main article shares tips for staying calm during the exam, I wanted to dive into how to tackle that anxiety before the big day, especially when you feel like you're starting from behind. First, let’s talk about that struggle with focus. When my mind feels like a million tabs open at once, I swear by the Pomodoro Technique. Setting a timer for 25 minutes of intense focus, followed by a 5-minute break, then repeating, works wonders. It breaks down daunting study sessions into manageable chunks. Creating a dedicated, clutter-free study space helps signal to your brain it's time to work. Turn off notifications, put your phone away, and commit to those 25 minutes. I find having my notebooks open and notes ready helps me jump right in. Now, about that 'weak foundation' feeling – it's intimidating, but not impossible to overcome, even with just a few months left! Instead of panicking, let's get strategic. Start by identifying your absolute weakest areas. Don't try to re-learn everything. Grab your syllabus or past exam papers and pinpoint topics that consistently trip you up. Then, prioritize understanding the core concepts in those areas first. For effective learning, forget passive reading. Embrace active recall and spaced repetition. Make flashcards (digital or physical!) for key terms, formulas, and concepts. Quiz yourself frequently, challenging yourself on what you don't know. This is a game-changer for solidifying knowledge when time is tight. A 'specific study plan' is your best friend when time is tight. With, say, 116 days until a college entrance exam, you need structure. Break down subjects into manageable units. Allocate more time to weaker areas. Schedule practice tests regularly – not just to check knowledge, but to get comfortable with the exam format and time constraints. After each test, thoroughly review your answers, especially incorrect ones, to understand why you made a mistake. This focused review is often more valuable than hours of general studying. Remember to build in buffer days for unexpected events, and vitally, schedule in breaks, exercise, and good sleep! Burning out won't help your foundation or your focus. Trust me, I learned that the hard way. Even when it feels overwhelming, remind yourself of the progress you're making. You've studied hard, and by combining these preparation strategies with exam day mindset tips, you'll be much more equipped to face those exams with confidence. We can absolutely crush this exam season together!
