I’m done with Claude Code

7/16 Edited to

... Read moreHaving spent some time experimenting with Claude Code from Anthropic, I found the tool promising but ultimately hitting some practical snags. One issue I encountered was port conflicts, as the OCR mentions 'Port 8080 is taken (PID 10484)', which reminded me how even AI-driven coding tools need to handle standard development environment challenges gracefully. I also noticed that while the tool compiles code cleanly, integrating it with my primary IDE, IntelliJ, required additional verification steps. This highlighted that command line coding assistants are helpful, but seamless integration with existing developer workflows is crucial for adoption. Another practical hurdle involved managing resource logs effectively, as shown in the OCR with various logs like SoapUI, jetty, and error logs. Efficient monitoring and debugging remain essential even when using AI tools. From my experience, while Claude Code may speed up initial coding phases, you should be prepared to manually handle environment conflicts, dependency management, and runtime debugging. For developers interested in AI-assisted programming, I recommend keeping an eye on tools that not only generate code but also smoothly integrate with your development stack and provide easy troubleshooting. Overall, the growing field of AI coding assistants is exciting, but currently, combining their output with robust development environments remains key to an efficient workflow. Checking for dependency issues, managing ports, and monitoring logs manually are parts of daily coding that AI tools should better address to reduce friction for developers.
