Delightful Peppermint Hot Cocoa Bombs for a Cozy Winter Treat
Ingredients:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
1 cup mini marshmallows
Silicone mold for hot cocoa bombs
Directions:
1. Begin by melting the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted.
2. Using a spoon or a pastry brush, coat the inside of each cavity of the silicone mold with the melted chocolate, ensuring an even layer. Let it set in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes until firm.
3. Once the first layer is set, apply a second layer of melted chocolate to reinforce the shells. Return to the refrigerator for another 10 minutes.
4. Carefully remove the chocolate shells from the mold. If any edges are uneven, gently warm them with your fingers to smooth them out.
5. In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and crushed peppermint candies.
6. Fill half of the chocolate shells with the cocoa mixture and top with mini marshmallows.
7. To seal the cocoa bombs, warm a plate in the microwave for a few seconds. Take the empty chocolate shells and gently press the open side against the warm plate to melt the edges slightly. Quickly place the filled half on top and press to seal.
8. Decorate the tops with melted white chocolate and additional crushed peppermint candies if desired.
9. Allow the hot cocoa bombs to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
