Luke Cage must reconcile with The Void in Power Man: Timeless #4 , written by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing and drawn by Bernard Chang, with cover art by Andrei Bressan.

In this epic conclusion, Power Man faces the threat of Aeon the Knife, The Celestial Mind, and the greatest threat of all, himself.

Luke Cage and The Void are finally able to clash after Aeon the Knife split them into two physical beings. The Void takes off like a rocket to eat the sun. Luke Cage must confront the darkness within himself and stop The Void before it can destroy this universe.

Meanwhile, Aeon the Knife has arrived on Earth to wreak havoc, and Ever is still entwined with The Celestial Mind, which views Luke Cage as the true threat.

As Luke and The Void clash in the sun, he finally realizes that all of his powers ultimately mean nothing to The Void. This clarity finally allows him to see what The Celestial Mind has been talking about. He is the biggest threat because The Void is a part of him.

As he does this internally, he also rejoins The Void physically, but this time, he’s in full control. This works really well considering all the groundwork that has been laid in previous issues. It might feel a little cliché, but it’s cliché for good reason, and it’s done here for good reason as well.

For a character as strong as Power Man -- Luke Cage, with the blood of the Hulk, the powers of The Sentry, and the Iron Fist, it makes all the sense in the world that his greatest struggle would be internal.

Thankfully, Power Man is given a physical foe that embodies the internal conflict, thanks to the design of The Sentry and The Void being two sides of the same coin.

The comic-book-specific constructs here allow for a cliché to be executed in a satisfying fashion. The big question then becomes, what will Power Man do now that he’s whole and now that he’s overcome this threat?

How will this make a difference with The Celestial Mind and with Aeon the Knife, a villain that has continually defeated Power Man and even Apocalypse in previous issues?

Power Man immediately travels from the sun to The Celestial Mind to rescue Ever. Despite the Mind's insistence that she's too far gone, Luke is ultimately successful thanks to his newly found sense of self.

He shares his newfound words of wisdom and unlocks Ever from her prison. While it's a quick exchange, it's still very effective.

This turns Luke Cage into a Celestial himself. In his epic new form, Luke Cage summons Aeon the Knife before him. This immediately puts an end to the chaos he was inflicting on Earth and this universe’s heroes, like Spider-Man and their version of Luke Cage.

Finally, the newly Celestial Luke Cage and Aeon the Knife face off. But this time Aeon is no match for Power Man. It isn’t even a fight. Power Man simply ends Aeon the knife before he can even process what is happening. It's sudden and shocking.

This issue covers a lot of ground and wraps up several ongoing threads very quickly. It all works as is, but there is a slight disappointment in some of the execution.

The biggest point being that Power Man finally defeats Aeon the Knife by becoming more powerful, as opposed to him somehow defeating him with his heart and/or mind in a creative way.

This is essentially what happens in the issue, but tweaking those small details would have gone a long way to better serve the themes and ideas that had been laid out across the run. All in all, this four-part comic has given readers a lot of great stuff to sink their teeth into.

Each issue has been loaded with incredible and inventive artwork. These foes have been formidable and posed a real threat to the heroes. And there were truly interesting questions posed throughout.

None of which came with clear-cut answers. This run demanded that readers ponder these questions and toss and turn trying to answer them. And above all else, it was fun, engaging, and entertaining.
