The dreaded question, "What to draw when bored?" echoes in your head, making that first mark feel impossible. It’s exactly what I experienced, and sometimes the pressure to create something 'good' just stops you from creating anything at all! That's why embracing a 'just draw it' mentality, like I did, is so powerful. It’s about letting go of expectations and simply enjoying the process. You don't need a grand plan or a perfect subject. The goal isn't a masterpiece; it's the joy of moving your pencil across the paper. Here are some easy, low-pressure things to draw when bored, perfect for sparking creativity in your sketchbook: Blind Contour Drawing: This is fantastic for loosening up! Pick an object nearby – perhaps your coffee cup, a plant, or even your hand. Without looking at your paper, draw the outline of the object while keeping your eyes fixed on it. Don't lift your pencil! The results will be beautifully distorted and often quite funny, but it trains your eye and hand coordination without judgment. Everyday Objects with a Twist: Look around your room. What's the most mundane item you see? A stapler, a pen, a key? Try drawing it, but give it a character! Maybe your stapler has a grumpy face, like the one I accidentally drew in my sketch, or your pen is wearing a tiny hat. Even using a simple red pencil can make the familiar feel fresh and playful.
