Labor Experience as a SECOND time mom🤰🏻

I couldn’t get out of bed until day 3… but with my second baby, I was walking in 6 hours.

I’m a mom of 2 & had both of my babies via C-section, but each experience was completely different.

With my first, I was planning for a vaginal delivery. I labored for 14 hours, but due to some complications, I ended up needing an emergency C-section.

Everything happened so fast, & even though the doctors explained everything, I felt overwhelmed & honestly kind of in shock. That whole day is a blur.

The recovery was rough. I remember feeling like I got hit by a truck (I know it sounds dramatic but it’s true 😅). I couldn’t move without this sharp pain in my abdomen. I didn’t get out of bed until day 3, I had a hard time going to the bathroom, & my arms & legs were so swollen. It was a slow & painful recovery.

Because my babies were born so close together, I didn’t have the option for a VBAC. I had to do another C-section & I was terrified it would be just like the first.

But my second experience shocked me.

Everything went so much SMOOTHER. I was in & out of the OR so fast, I barely had time to process it. I was up & walking within 6 hours! 👏🏼

I even had a bowel movement that night (TMI but if you know, you know). The only time I felt any pain was when I’d sit up or try to stand & even then, it was manageable. We were discharged by day 2.

So if you’re nervous about having another C-section… I see you. I was you. But in my experience, it gets easier the 2nd time around. 💛

... Read moreRecovering from a C-section can be a daunting experience, especially for mothers going through it for the second time. Understanding the differences in recovery between first and second C-sections can alleviate concerns for expectant moms. The second experience often leads to quick recovery, with mothers able to walk within hours post-surgery, as seen in many anecdotes from experienced moms. Experts recommend preparing physically and mentally for the recovery process by incorporating gentle exercises and understanding pain management strategies. It's essential for mothers to communicate openly with their healthcare providers about their feelings, including fears related to repeat surgeries. The recovery phase involves notable differences, such as reduced swelling and improved mobility, allowing mothers to bond with their newborns faster. Engaging in light physical activities soon after surgery can aid in recovery and overall wellness. Additionally, many women report feeling more prepared and aware during their second delivery, easing the emotional stress associated with the process. Whether faced with a scheduled C-section or an emergency situation, knowing what to expect can considerably enhance the recovery journey. Remember, every mother's experience is unique, and sharing these stories contributes to a supportive community.

Yayy I’m so glad for you ! Because mine I almost was a goner both times it was incredible horrible 😭🥺 made my heart break because I wanted todo all the things with my babies 👶🏽👶🏽❤️💜💙🙏 I’m not trying to scare anyone but at all I promise , mine where extremly close together as well a couple months after my sons first birthdays I had my daughter and she was supposed to be born on they’re dads bday Oct 6 but ended up August 16th , we where air vac both times to go university hospital and I thru a whole rage becuz they wouldn’t let me bring my babies (both of them both times ) and I said oh no I’m not going then because the Uni hospital has a huge phenomenon NICU so it made me even more on rage literally. But did you have the chance to have any pain meds during your long labors (I had long ones to) very) and they wouldn’t let me get anything no pain meds or epidurals whatsoever either time 🥺
