My girls, as always, poured their little hearts into handmade cards and drawings—those precious keepsakes that truly capture their love. Seeing messages like 'You Are The Best! I LOVE YOU Katie & Kelsey' just melts me every time. It's moments like these that remind me why being a mom, especially a single one, is the most rewarding job in the world.
And yes, they did pick out a few things at the store for me! We had a good laugh because, of course, I ended up paying for them myself. 😉 But honestly, it's the thought, the excitement in their eyes, and their pure desire to make me feel special that matters most. It’s a little reminder of the beautiful, often funny, realities of single parenting.
Mother's Day can sometimes feel a bit different when you're a single parent. There might be moments that make you pause and reflect, but overwhelmingly, it's a day to celebrate the incredible bond you share with your children. For anyone else navigating Mother's Day as a single mom, here are a few things I've learned that truly help make the day special:
Embrace the Simplicity: You don’t need extravagant plans. Focus on quality time. A picnic in the park, baking cookies together, or a cozy movie night at home can be more meaningful than any fancy outing. My girls always love just having my undivided attention.
Budget-Friendly Fun: Handmade gifts, like those priceless drawings, are often the most cherished. Instead of stressing over expensive presents, focus on experiences. Maybe it’s a craft project you do together, or a special meal you all prepare.
Prioritize Self-Care: It’s easy to get caught up in making the day perfect for your kids, but remember to nurture yourself too. Even if it's just an hour of quiet time with a book and a cup of tea after the kids are asleep, make space for yourself. You deserve to feel celebrated and rested.
Lean on Your Village: Whether it’s friends, family, or a supportive community of other single moms, don't hesitate to connect. Sharing your day, or even just a warm message, can make a huge difference.
Acknowledge Your Strength: Being a single mom means you wear many hats, and you do it with incredible resilience and love every single day. Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to pat yourself on the back for all your hard work and dedication. You are truly amazing!
This Mother's Day, like every day, was a beautiful reminder of the unwavering love my daughters and I share. It’s a journey filled with unique challenges, but even more unique joys. To all the single moms out there, know that your efforts are seen, appreciated, and cherished. You are doing an incredible job!
This warms my heart 💜 you’re doing an awesome job girl! They’re so kind and they love you immensely 🥰 happy late Mother’s Day boo
