Honey Crisp Apple Cobbler
Been gone for a minute, but not from the kitchen 😏🍏 Let’s make some apple cobbler magic!
Alright, let’s get into it. First things first — grab some fresh apples. I’m using Honeycrisp, but honestly, use what you’ve got. Go ahead and peel and slice them up nice and thin.
Now in a big boiler, we’re tossing those apples with a some white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a squeeze of lemon juice — because we like that flavor balance, right? Sweet, spicy, and just a hint of tart.
Once that mixes and comes to a boil and those apples are fork tender place it on simmer and lets get started on the cobbler portion.
Now for the cobbler topping — that’s the best part. In a bowl, we’re mixing Self rising flour, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract and milk until you get that nice batter consistency.
Pour this batter into a cast iron pan of 1 melted stick of butter. Spoon that apple goodness right on top of the butter and batter.
DO NOT MIX IT! PUT THAT SPOON DOWN.
Don’t worry about making it perfect — cobbler’s supposed to look a little rustic. That’s part of the charm!
Pop it in the oven at 350°F for about 35 to 40 minutes — or until it’s golden and bubbly. While it’s baking, go ahead and get your ice cream ready, because we’re not skipping that part.
And when it comes out? Oh my goodness… that smell! Warm cinnamon, baked apples, buttery crust — everything cozy in one bite.
Alright y’all, that’s it! Apple cobbler, simple, sweet, and straight from the heart. I’ve missed cooking with you — let me know if you try this one, and don’t forget to tag me if you post it. Now, go enjoy that cobbler while it’s hot!”

One of the things I love most about making Honeycrisp apple cobbler is how the natural sweetness and crisp texture of the apples holds up beautifully under the warm, cinnamon-spiced syrup and buttery topping. Honeycrisp apples are ideal for cobblers because they don't turn mushy quickly and provide a nice balance of tartness and sweetness. When preparing the filling, adding a squeeze of lemon juice is a clever tip to brighten the flavors and prevent the apple slices from browning too fast. The combination of white and brown sugars along with cinnamon and vanilla extract creates that classic sweet and warmly spiced aroma that fills your kitchen, making the waiting time almost impossible! For the cobbler topping, using self-rising flour adds a lightness to the batter, helping it rise and form a rustic crust. Melting butter in a cast iron pan before adding the batter ensures a rich, golden bottom that contrasts delightfully with the tender apple filling on top. I’ve found that resisting the urge to stir the batter and apples together lets the cobbler develop that traditional layered look and texture. Baking the cobbler at 350°F for just about 35-40 minutes is perfect to achieve a bubbly, golden crust while the filling thickens nicely. Serving it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream adds a creamy, cool contrast that elevates this dessert to comfort food perfection. For those trying this recipe, don’t hesitate to experiment using other apple varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji if Honeycrisp isn’t available, but expect some differences in flavor and texture. Also, if you like your cobbler sweeter or spicier, you can adjust the sugar and cinnamon amounts to your taste. Making this cobbler is a wonderful way to bring home the cozy vibes of fall and festive baking, perfect for sharing with family and friends during the holidays.
