Jesse Boot, the Nottingham entrepreneur who built Boots the Chemist into a national chain, left the city with more than just a pharmacy empire - he also gave it one of its most beloved green spaces. In the early 1920s, Boot donated the deeds to the land at Highfields Park to Nottingham City Coun

History of the Clocktower
Has anyone ever stopped to properly look at the “History of the Clocktower” wall inside the Victoria Centre in Nottingham? 👀🕰️ It’s all about the famous clock tower and how it’s been part of Nottingham since 1900. There are some brilliant old photographs and little facts showing how the area and

Shin pads started here!
Did you know this happened right here in Nottingham? 👀 The very first tarmac road was laid on Radcliffe Road in West Bridgford… and it all started by accident. Back in 1901, Edgar Hooley spotted a strange smooth surface after tar spilled and mixed with slag - and by 1902, he’d patented it.
