Michelin-recognised Japanese Pasta Bar: Sio Pasta

@siopasta.singapore, a Japanese pasta restaurant by Japanese chef Shusaku Toba from Tokyo, opens on 26 March 2026, from 11am onwards. This is Michelin-recognised sio AOYAMA’s first overseas outlet outside Japan.

This new outlet at Raffles City Shopping Centre is quite small but cosy. There are bar counter seats and a few tables for those dining in groups.

Their menu features handcrafted pastas, sides, fried chicken, pizzas and desserts. Their pastas are cooked to al dente and the texture is quite chewy. Flavours are leaning towards Asian-style, using ingredients that we locals are familiar with. The pastas are savoury and comforting - suited our local palate. Our table favourite was the Fried egg, cheese and salted Kelp pasta. The pasta is evenly coated with the umami-ladden sauce. But if you are not into savoury food, you might find the pastas here to be on the saltier side.

Comforting savoury pastas to try if you are in the area. The pasta bar is pretty small and seating is limited (28-seats). Handmade pastas are reasonably priced.

... Read moreIf you're planning to visit Sio Pasta Singapore, here are a few tips from my experience that might help you enjoy your visit even more. Firstly, seating is quite limited with only 28 seats available, including bar counters and a few tables. It's a cozy space, so visiting during off-peak hours might help you avoid waiting. The menu offers a delightful array of handcrafted pastas, pizzas, and sides that blend Japanese culinary techniques with flavors familiar to locals. My personal favorite was the Fried Egg, Cheese, and Salted Kelp pasta, known for its rich umami sauce coating every strand. For those who prefer something a bit less salty, it’s good to note that some pasta dishes lean towards stronger savory notes, so request adjustments if needed. Beyond the must-try pastas, they also offer intriguing options like the Snow Crab Genovese and Japanese Garlic Carbonara, which add diverse flavors to the menu. Plus, their pizzas such as the Teriyaki Chicken with Cheese or the Gelato Pizza topped with berries provide unique Japanese fusion tastes. Prices are quite reasonable given the Michelin recognition, typically ranging from $13.80 to around $18.80, excluding GST and service charges. For those mindful of allergies, the kitchen cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment, so be sure to inform staff of any dietary needs. Finally, paired with the convenient location inside Raffles City Shopping Centre and friendly staff, Sio Pasta makes for an excellent dining choice. It’s definitely a spot I’ll revisit to explore more menu offerings and enjoy that comforting handmade pasta texture again.
