... Read moreIn my own journey with therapy, I found a powerful truth echoed by many licensed therapists: the process isn’t about understanding every single thought or feeling in perfect detail. Often, we get caught up in analyzing our anxieties or sadness, mistakenly aiming for a state of “complete understanding” or “perfection.” But therapy’s effectiveness really shines when we stop trying to figure it all out and instead focus on accepting where we are right now. One reminder that resonates deeply is that you are often "already at the goal" in a sense. The goal is not the absence of anxiety or sadness but learning to live with these feelings without letting them control you. This mindset shift helped me move past the frustration of feeling stuck in emotional turmoil and instead embrace gradual growth. Additionally, I noticed that the more time I spent talking and overanalyzing my thoughts, the further I got from meaningful change. Action, even small steps forward, proved to be more transformative than endless discussion. Sometimes, taking a break from trying to understand every detail allows room for healing and progress. If you’re struggling with therapy, it might help to remind yourself that it’s okay not to have all the answers. Growth often comes from embracing imperfection and focusing on doing rather than thinking. This approach fosters a growth mindset, emphasizing progress over perfection, which is essential for long-lasting mental wellness.
