Kare-kare (Regular Beef Recipe)

Ingredients

• 1½–2 lbs regular beef, cut into cubes

• 6 cups water

• ½ cup peanut butter (crunchy or plane )

• 1 onion, chopped

• 3 cloves garlic, minced

• 2 tbsp annatto oil (or annatto powder or turmeric powder optional )

• 1 eggplant, sliced

• 1 bundle string beans, cut

• 1 bundle pechay or bok choy

• Salt or fish sauce to taste

Instructions

1. Boil beef in water until very tender (about 1–1½ hours). Reserve❤️ the broth.

2. Sauté garlic and onion in annatto oil until fragrant.

3. Add peanut butter ; stir well.

4. Slowly add beef broth while stirring until thick and smooth.

5. Add beef and simmer 10 minutes.

6. Add vegetables (pechay last).

7. Season lightly. Serve with rice and bagoong.
