When Survival Mode…

#WellnessWednesday

When you’ve been surviving for so long, softness can feel uncomfortable…

āœ”ļøYou might mistake peace for laziness.

āœ”ļøRest for weakness.

āœ”ļøStillness for a lack of ambition.

If you’re in a season where you’re learning to soften, this is your reminder:

🌷You don’t have to earn rest.

🌷You don’t have to deserve peace.

🌷You are allowed to simply be.

... Read moreAfter spending a long time in survival mode, I understand how difficult it can be to accept softness and peace as part of life. It’s common to associate rest with laziness or weakness when you’ve been conditioned to constantly push through hardship. However, shifting out of survival mode is a vital step toward emotional wellness and inner peace. I’ve found that allowing myself to rest without guilt takes intentional practice. It’s about changing the mindset from ā€œI must keep movingā€ to ā€œI deserve stillness.ā€ Rest isn’t a sign of giving up or lack of ambition, but rather a necessary part of sustaining strength. Softness is not vulnerability alone; it’s a form of resilience that often gets overlooked. Throughout my own journey, embracing softness meant redefining what strength looks like. Being soft but strong allowed me to respond to stress with calmness instead of fight-or-flight. Recognizing that I don’t have to earn rest or deserve peace helped break cycles of burnout. Practical steps that helped me include setting boundaries to protect my energy, integrating mindfulness and meditation into daily routines, and reminding myself that I am allowed to simply be—without conditions or expectations. This mindset shift supports healing and offers a sustainable path forward. If you’re in a similar season of learning to soften, remember it’s okay to slow down and honor your needs. The transition out of survival mode opens the door to deeper self-compassion and a more balanced life. Softness is the beginning of reclaiming your wellbeing.

Living in survival mode isn’t living. It’s reacting. It’s protecting. It’s doing what you have to do, emotionally, physically, mentally, just to make it through the day. Sometimes it looks like high-functioning. Other times it looks like disappearing, but either way, it’s exhausting. If this
