Sometimes when I eat too much bread or fried foods I have notice my chances of being constipated increase. If you find yourself constipated and are looking for a quick remedy here are some things you can try.

-you need fluids to move your bowel movements. Drink warm water with salt or you can also have some fruit juice like prunes. - moving your body also helps move your bowel movements. Going for a walk is very easy or trying some stretches.

-try massaging your abdomen. Start on your right side move horizontally to your left side then down and back to your right side and up. You will be creating a square. Try this a couple times.

Herbal teas like peppermint or ginger can also be super soothing and help with gut motility. And don't forget clear broths! The key is consistent hydration throughout the day, not just when you feel a backup. I try to keep a water bottle with me always, making small sips a habit. Fiber Powerhouses: Beyond Just Prunes While prune juice is fantastic, incorporating more fiber-rich whole foods into your diet is a game-changer. I personally love snacking on berries, especially raspberries, and munching on apples with their skin – that's where a lot of the fiber magic happens! Pears, kiwis, and figs are also incredible for keeping things regular. Remember to increase your fiber intake gradually to avoid bloating. For me, adding a handful of spinach to my smoothie or swapping white bread for whole-grain options has made a noticeable difference. Movement Matters: Beyond Just a Walk A walk is a great start, but getting a little more intentional with movement can be even better. When I'm feeling sluggish, I try gentle yoga poses like cat-cow stretches or light twists, which can literally help 'massage' your internal organs and encourage bowel movements. Even just standing up and stretching every hour if you have a desk job can make a difference. The goal is to get your core moving and your blood flowing, which naturally stimulates your digestive system. Mastering the Abdominal Massage Technique That square massage technique is brilliant! To make it even more effective, I try to use a medium pressure, making sure it's comfortable but firm enough to feel. I usually do this for about 5-10 minutes, especially first thing in the morning or before bed. Sometimes, I'll even warm up a little bit of coconut oil or a non-scented lotion to help my hands glide smoothly, which also adds a nice, relaxing element to the routine. Consistency really pays off here. Daily Habits for a Happy Gut Beyond the immediate fixes, I've noticed that certain daily habits prevent constipation from even starting. Trying to create a regular toilet routine (e.g., trying to go at the same time each day) can train your body. Managing stress through mindfulness or short meditation sessions also helps, as stress can totally mess with your digestion. And of course, listening to your body – don't ignore the urge to go! If these tips don't seem to help much, or if constipation becomes a frequent and uncomfortable problem, it's always a good idea to chat with a doctor. They can offer personalized advice and ensure everything's okay. But for everyday upsets, these are my tried-and-true methods!
