Taking charge of who you allow into your personal and professional life can significantly impact your mental health and overall happiness. In practice, this could mean choosing friends who celebrate your successes and are genuinely there during tough times, or colleagues who collaborate and communicate respectfully. It’s equally important to recognize when certain individuals consistently undervalue or criticize you in harmful ways — these are the ones to distance yourself from for the sake of your well-being. Moreover, promoting those who stand by you during struggles builds a dependable support system and fosters mutual respect and appreciation. This approach is not just metaphorical; it’s a real-life strategy that encourages self-respect and emotional resilience.
