For example, hypothyroidism often causes a slower heart rate, feeling cold, and brittle hair or dry skin, whereas hyperthyroidism may lead to a fast heart rate, feeling hot, and smooth, moist skin. These contrasting symptoms reflect how the thyroid regulates metabolism and energy levels. Managing blood sugar and cortisol levels also plays a crucial role. Imbalances in these hormones can exacerbate thyroid symptoms. I found that increasing dietary fiber and focusing on foods that stabilize insulin and cortisol helped improve my overall thyroid function. If you experience these signs but are unsure which thyroid condition you may have, getting a proper test done is essential. This includes blood tests to measure thyroid hormone levels and related markers. Understanding these signs not only helps in early detection but also empowers you to take proactive steps through lifestyle adjustments and medical guidance. Monitoring how your body feels and reacts is often the first step to better thyroid health.
