#1 career advice for nurses that helped me ✨

Really hear me when I say this:

you are just another employee, so put yourself first.

I have met so many nurses do so much for the hospital when it would not be reciprocated.

- If you need a day off and your manager is not understanding… call out!

- Take your breaks and fight to have breaks because you deserve it and should NOT go 12 hours without a single break.

- Go to the restroom, it will only take 1 minute. It is NOT worth the urinary tract infection!

Unfortunately working in a hospital there are many employees and you just happen to be one of them. So always take the best care for your patients but remember that only can happen if you put yourself first!

... Read moreNursing can be both rewarding and overwhelming, making it essential to prioritize self-care. Many nurses experience burnout due to long hours and lack of breaks. To combat this, take regular breaks and communicate openly with your managers about your needs. It’s crucial to be proactive about your well-being to provide the best care for your patients. For instance, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, reach out to your supervisor for a mental health day or consider utilizing stress management techniques, such as deep-breathing exercises or mindfulness practices. Surrounding yourself with supportive colleagues can also be beneficial. Engaging in professional organizations within the nursing community can provide networking opportunities and additional resources for self-care strategies. Additionally, mental health resources and counseling services can greatly impact your ability to maintain balance in your career. Beyond personal health, staying updated on nursing best practices and patient care advancements can enhance your efficacy and job satisfaction. Remember, a healthy nurse is a more effective caregiver! Embrace a holistic approach to your nursing career to thrive both personally and professionally. Your experiences and insights are invaluable—sharing them can inspire others in the nursing community!
