postpartum alopecia
Have you heard of postpartum alopecia? This happens with the influx of hormones after giving birth. It can come in many forms and intensities.
My case was minor as my edges only thinned out a bit, but it did impact the foundation of my locs. I treated postpartum alopecia with daily castor oil scalp massages. Rosemary oil helps too.
Stimulating the scalp increases blood flow and promotes hair growth. Since then I’ve combined a few locs at the top to give them a more sturdy foundation. I plan on reattaching locs once the hair grows back fully.
This is what worked for me twice. Every case is different and if the issue continues you should always seek a professional trichologist or dermatologist.
Do you have alopecia with locs? How have you treated your scalp and taken care of your hair in the process?
