Day in my life as a busy resident physician 👩🏻‍⚕️

How I spend my days as a resident physician: I try to get a 6 AM workout in when I can for my own wellness, then enjoy a breakfast and coffee and head into work. I'm currently in the psychiatric emergency department so it's usually very busy! When work day is done I eat dinner, unwind and repeat it !

... Read moreA day in the life of a resident physician can be both rewarding and challenging. Most resident doctors have hectic schedules filled with patient care, learning, and personal wellness. Early workouts, like a 6 AM gym session, are essential for maintaining energy and focus throughout the day. Breakfast often features coffee and nutritious foods to energize before hitting the fast-paced environment of the psychiatric emergency department. In such a high-pressure role, time management is crucial. Residents frequently juggle patient interactions with hands-on learning experiences. Following work, many choose to unwind with a healthy dinner and leisure activities to recharge for the next day. Self-care routines, such as exercise or hobbies, are vital strategies in preventing burnout, ensuring resident physicians remain resilient and effective in their roles. Whether you're interested in pursuing a career in medicine or simply curious about the daily life of a physician, this insight into a resident's life highlights the balance between professional responsibilities and personal well-being.
