Week 2: Day 3| Sharing Our Faith| Paul’s Example|
Today during this study I read Acts 16 and it really opened my eyes to how powerful obedience is when it comes to sharing the gospel. God can use any moment, any place, and anyone who’s willing to say yes to Him.
In Philippi, Paul met three completely different people—a wealthy woman, a slave girl, and a jailer. Three different stories, three different backgrounds, yet one Savior who changed everything.
Lydia was a businesswoman who already believed in God but didn’t yet know Jesus. When Paul shared the gospel, her heart opened, and she was baptized right away. Her home even became the first meeting place for believers in Philippi. That made me think—some people around us might already be seeking God, but they still need to meet Jesus. We can’t assume someone knows Him just because they’re spiritual or religious.
Then there was the slave girl—used and controlled by others, trapped in darkness. But one encounter with Jesus broke every chain. Paul spoke freedom over her, and she was set free instantly. That’s the power of the gospel—no one is too far gone for God to reach.
After that miracle, Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into prison. Even in pain, they chose to worship. Around midnight, they began praying and singing to God, and suddenly, an earthquake shook the prison, opening every door. The jailer woke up terrified, thinking the prisoners had escaped. He was about to take his own life, but Paul stopped him and said, “We’re all still here.”
In that moment, the jailer asked, “What must I do to be saved?” Paul’s response was simple: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” And that very night, the jailer and his whole family came to faith in Christ.
Even in chains, Paul’s faith was active. His worship in suffering led someone else to salvation. It reminded me that God can use us anywhere—in our comfort, in our brokenness, and even in our pain. Whether we’re in a peaceful place like Lydia, a dark place like the slave girl, or a hard place like the jailer, God is still at work.
Paul didn’t run from hardship. He used it as an opportunity to point others to Jesus. He was willing to remain in suffering if it meant someone else could be saved. That’s powerful.
Evangelism isn’t about having perfect words or knowing everything—it’s about being available. It’s about letting the Holy Spirit lead and trusting that the gospel itself carries the power to change hearts.
Some will respond right away. Others might take time. Our job isn’t to force it—it’s to be faithful.
From a wealthy businesswoman to a broken slave girl to a hardened jailer—Paul’s story proves that Jesus is for everyone. No one is too high or too low to need Him.
Even our suffering has purpose. The way we worship and endure through pain can become the very thing that draws someone else to Christ.
So let’s be like Paul—bold, obedient, unashamed, and willing to speak up wherever God places us. Because the gospel truly changes everything.
