Are you making this sunscreen mistake?
From my personal experience and research, one of the biggest sunscreen mistakes people make is not applying enough sunscreen to fully cover exposed skin. Dermatologists recommend using about a shot-glass amount (roughly 1 ounce) for your entire body. Many also forget to reapply sunscreen every two hours, or right after swimming or sweating. This continuous protection is crucial to prevent sunburn and long-term skin damage. I’ve noticed that some people with sensitive or acne-prone skin avoid sunscreen because past products caused irritation or breakouts. However, it’s important to try different formulations—such as mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide—that are often gentler on sensitive skin while offering broad-spectrum protection. Another common issue is neglecting often-missed areas such as ears, neck, and the tops of feet. Including these spots in your routine helps reduce the risk of uneven exposure and sun damage. Lastly, combining sunscreen use with other sun protection methods, such as wearing hats, seeking shade, and using sunglasses, maximizes your skin’s defense against harmful UV rays. Investing a little time finding the right sunscreen and applying it properly can make a significant difference in your skin’s health and appearance over time.
