I used to think I wanted to do OS when I was younger but I quickly realized I’m not built for that life personally 🫨🫨🫨 oral surgeons exist at another level #predentalstudent #oralsurgery #predent

2/22 Edited to

... Read moreFrom personal observations and experiences, I can say that oral surgery truly stands out as one of the most rigorous specialties within dentistry. The stereotype that oral surgeons need to be "extremely smart," highly competitive, and able to handle pressure is not just a myth—it's a reality based on how challenging the residency and exams are. When I first considered specializing, I underestimated the length and difficulty of the training, especially the CBSE exam that covers complex medical knowledge beyond general dental studies. What surprised me, however, is how diverse the people in this field are. One of my closest friends is an oral surgery resident who completely defies the usual tough-gunner stereotype. She's smart, capable, and still manages to maintain her unique style and personality without conforming to typical expectations. This goes to show that skill and dedication come in many forms, and you don't have to fit into a rigid mold to succeed. The option of pursuing a combined DDS/MD program is also a significant commitment. Although it takes longer to complete, earning dual degrees opens up broader opportunities, especially in hospital-based practice and complex surgical cases. It's demanding but rewarding for those driven by the prospect of becoming dual-licensed doctors. Overall, oral surgery requires thick skin and a strong mindset, but it also offers great professional satisfaction. If you're passionate and willing to put in the hard work, it can be an incredible career path. For pre-dental students still exploring their options, understanding these realities early can help make an informed decision about whether oral surgery is the right fit.

Would you’d believe this blanket took me 5 months. I simply didn’t want to do it. 😭 don’t get me wrong i love a good blanket. But using a big 25mm wooden hook was not it. If i did do again I would try to use mainly my fingers instead of the hook. #fingercrochet #crochet #crochetersoflemon8
