Today we taught Clayton how to change the oil and brake pads.
We both grew up in a generation where learning usually came with yelling, embarrassment, hard lessons, and the occasional “because I said so.”
Today he learned the same skills without a single curse word, voice raised, insult, or being made to feel small.
Turns out you can teach responsibility, accountability, and hard work without fear.
The grease will wash off. The life lessons won’t.
We may have grown up one way, but that doesn’t mean our kids have to.
Breaking cycles isn’t about making life easier for our children, it’s about teaching them better.
Proud of you, Clayton. ❤️🔧
