I keep returning to one truth…
philanthropy is empty if it cannot see the full humanity of all people.
In Gaza, entire families are being erased in an instant.
Children are pulled from rubble with no one left to call their name.
Communities are stripped of safety, dignity, and hope.
Our role is not to look away.
Not to retreat into carefully worded statements that protect comfort.
Not to wait for the “right moment” to speak.
Our role is to respond: with urgency, with courage, with the unshakable belief that every life matters.
Gaza is not just a headline.
It is mothers searching for clean water for their babies.
It is the sound of drones replacing the sound of birds.
It is grief moving faster than aid can reach.
If the social sector only mobilizes when it is politically safe, then we are performing solidarity, not practicing it.
True solidarity costs something.
It means naming injustice when it is unpopular.
It means demanding a ceasefire even when it invites criticism.
It means standing firmly in the belief that human rights are not negotiable.
We can hold this courage.
We can fund emergency relief.
We can amplify Palestinian voices.
We can make sure silence is not the legacy of our work.
Because the true test of our values is not what we do when it is easy.
It is what we choose when it is hard.
