ASSumptions about me 😏

... Read moreNavigating the aftermath of betrayal is a deeply personal journey that challenges not just the heart but the core of one's identity. Throughout my own experiences and professional practice, I’ve learned that each woman’s path to healing is unique and should be honored as such. Many people like me encounter assumptions about why someone might choose to stay or leave after such trauma — but these generalizations often miss the nuanced truth. One common misconception is that staying after betrayal equates to weakness or naivety. From personal experience and my work as a trauma-informed somatic and alchemy practitioner, I can confidently say that choosing to stay can be one of the most courageous and intentional decisions anyone can make. It’s about reclaiming personal power and making conscious choices rather than succumbing to societal pressure or fear. Another assumption revolves around financial dependence or staying for children. True healing is about authenticity and emotional sovereignty—not obligation. It’s important to recognize that staying for the right reasons comes from inner strength and thorough healing work, not external necessity or appearances. Children deserve parents who are genuinely whole and happy, which nurtures healthier family dynamics long term. Moreover, healing isn’t about normalizing betrayal itself, which is unfortunately too common in relationships, but about normalizing the process of recovery. A key part of this process is addressing how betrayal impacts the nervous system and self-trust, validating the complex emotions involved without minimizing the pain. For partners involved, real transformation requires accountability and consistent dedication to change. Genuine healing is possible when both individuals commit to deep work on themselves and on rebuilding trust with honest communication and actions. For anyone embarking on this journey, whether as a survivor or partner, it’s vital to find compassionate support systems and resources that respect personal choices. Empowerment after betrayal is about reclaiming your confidence, regulating your emotions, and creating new narratives for your life. Healing may be challenging, but it’s an attainable and transformative path that opens the door to renewed hope and strength.

A handwritten note on lined paper titled "Four agreements #3 Don't make assumptions." It advises stopping the mind from filling blanks with fear, fantasy, or worst-case scenarios. Instead, "ASK-Clarify-communicate." It explains assumptions cause suffering, come from fear, and in trauma, are protective, contrasting negative assumptions with proactive responses.
The Third Agreement: Don’t Make Assumptions
One of the hardest lessons for people who grew up in survival mode is this: your brain fills in blanks with fear, not facts. When someone goes quiet… When the tone shifts… When plans change… When you don’t get a response right away… Your mind jumps to the worst-case scenario because that
