As an immigrant who was undocumented for most of my childhood, I am devastated by the atroceties and traumatic events that our people are facing.
No one understands how hard it is to be an immigrant unless you are one.
If you didn’t know the United States is ran and functions because of our immigrant brothers and sisters who day after day plant, pick and gather crops simply to feed us. They leave their families behind so that we can eat. They break their bodies so that we can live. They give up their dreams so that we are nourished to live out our dreams.
All our immigrant brothers and sisters deserve respect, humane treatment and the right to live without fear of persecution.
I have experienced first hand the repercussions of deportation as my father was deported when I was just 10 years old and I don’t wish that on ANYONE.
Please stop tearing families apart in such a vicious way and let our children grow without the fear of coming home to no one there.
Love, Yessica Fernanda, a Colombian🇨🇴 immigrant
