Back to school checklist!!

Starting the school year prepared can make a big difference in easing the usual chaos that comes with the back-to-school season. From personal experience, breaking down tasks week by week really helps manage everything smoothly. For example, two weeks before school, I focus on checking school emails for registration details and needed supplies, scheduling essential appointments like haircuts, doctor and dentist visits, and arranging afterschool care. This proactive approach prevents last-minute scrambles. One week before school, I get the kids practicing their morning and night routines again to help them adjust comfortably. I also organize their clothes, donating those that no longer fit and shopping for new ones if needed. Preparing the backpack, packing lunches, and even assembling a small teacher gift are great final tasks to do at this stage. The night before school is all about winding down properly—making sure the kids have a nourishing dinner, organizing all their school items, and encouraging a relaxing bedtime routine. I find that a hot shower and reading a book in bed about 30 minutes before lights out can really help children feel calm and ready. This checklist, inspired by tried-and-true methods, ensures no detail is overlooked, making the transition back to school smoother for both parents and students.
