My boyfriend of 8+ years won’t marry me

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 8.5 years, living together for 5. We love each other, we communicate well, he’s supported me through school, and honestly our life together feels like marriage already… except it’s not.

I’ve always dreamed of being a bride, having that celebration with family and friends, and making it official. He doesn’t shut me down when I bring it up, but he also hasn’t proposed. Every year that passes, every time someone asks “when’s the wedding?” I feel more stuck.

I don’t want to waste more years waiting for something he’ll never do… but I also can’t imagine leaving someone who treats me so well.

Do you think I should give him a real deadline, or accept that marriage might never happen with him?

Marriage isn't some magical thing, its a complete waste of money just to fulfill your fairytale dream. If you guys get alone and love each other, just be happy and live your life.

Okay hun, what you need to do is sit down with him and tell him how much you love him, how happy he makes you but you need to know if he ever wants to marry you. Because that's something that's important to you. Then you'll know exactly what his opinion on marriage is. Don't put it off because you'll end up resenting him at a certain point in the near future.
