How I keep my dyed hair healthy

Here how I’ve learned to keep my hair healthy over years of dying it:

It took a while for me to understand what my hair needed to thrive but here’s some products/methods I’ve noticed help my dyed hair :)

To start off with the obvious… shampoo and conditioner. I use the Shiseido tsubaki shampoo and conditioner. I wash my hair as needed usually 2-3 times a week. It smells amazing and works great.

HAIR MASKS ARE A MUST! I always enjoy trying out new products but the 2 I’m always going back to are the “Fino premium touch” mask and the “Eva nyc Mane magic 10-1 shine mask”

I use these 1-2 times a week I’ve noticed it helps tame my frizz and lock in moisture.

Hair oil saved my hair. I am dedicated to the “Kérastase hair oil Elixer” I’ve tried out other products but NOTHING compares. It actually transforms my hair from dry to BEAUTIFUL!!! It is 100% worth the cost.

I stay away from heat as much as possible. I try to air dry my hair as much as i can but if I am using heat I ALWAYS use a heat protector. It is an extra step but it can prevent so much damage. I haven’t found one I’m in love with yet but there are lots out there :)

And finally I make sure to get a trim when needed :) long hair is nice but let those dead ends go.

... Read moreOkay, so we've all been there, right? That gorgeous fresh color, and then a few weeks later, it starts looking dull, dry, and maybe even a bit…straw-like. I totally get it! After years of experimenting with different shades – from bright reds to icy blondes – I’ve picked up some serious HEALTHY HACKS that transformed my hair from brittle to beautiful. It’s not just about the products (though they’re super important!), but also about forming a consistent, loving routine for your strands. Beyond Basic Washing: You might be thinking, 'shampoo and conditioner, duh!' But for dyed hair, it's a game-changer to use color-safe formulas. I learned the hard way that harsh sulfates can strip your color faster than anything. Now, I always look for sulfate-free options that gently cleanse without washing away my hard-earned hue. And lukewarm water? Your hair's best friend! Hot water can open the cuticle, letting color escape and moisture flee. A quick rinse with cool water at the end helps seal everything in, boosting shine. Also, consider a pre-shampoo treatment or a scalp scrub occasionally. A healthy scalp is the foundation for healthy hair, especially when you're frequently applying chemicals to your roots. It helps remove product buildup without stripping your color. Deep Conditioning is Your Holy Grail: My article mentioned hair masks, and I cannot stress enough how vital they are. Think of them as a weekly spa treatment for your hair. But here’s an extra tip: alternate between a moisturizing mask and a protein-rich one if your hair feels particularly weak or stretchy. Protein helps rebuild the hair shaft, while moisture keeps it flexible and soft. Don't forget leave-in conditioners too – they add an extra layer of protection and hydration throughout the day, especially if you're out and about. The Magic of Oils & Serums: While I'm devoted to my Kérastase oil, there's a world of hair oils out there! The key is to find one that suits your hair type. Finer hair might prefer lighter oils like argan or jojoba, while thicker hair can handle heavier ones like coconut or olive. I usually apply a few drops to the ends of my damp hair before air-drying, and then a tiny bit to tame frizz once it's dry. It's like giving your hair a protective gloss. Don't just slather it on, though! A little goes a long way. Start with a pea-sized amount, warm it between your palms, and focus on the mid-lengths to ends, where hair is typically driest and most prone to damage. Smart Styling & Protection: We all love our styling tools, but heat is truly the enemy of dyed hair. Air drying as much as possible is a major HEALTHY HACK. When you absolutely must use heat, a good heat protectant isn't just an option, it's mandatory! Look for ones that offer protection up to 450°F. And it’s not just heat – UV rays can fade your color too! If you spend a lot of time outdoors, consider a hair product with UV filters or even a chic hat. Another often-overlooked area: sleeping. Switching to a silk pillowcase or tying your hair in a loose, low bun can significantly reduce friction and breakage overnight. These little Tips And Tricks make a huge difference in the long run! And speaking of damage, let's talk about wet hair. It's at its most vulnerable when wet, so avoid aggressive towel drying or brushing it harshly. Gently squeeze out excess water with a microfibre towel, and use a wide-tooth comb to detangle, starting from the ends and working your way up. This simple change can prevent so much breakage! Finally, remember that healthy hair starts from within. Staying hydrated and eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins (like Biotin, Vitamin E, and Omega-3s) can contribute to stronger, shinier hair. It’s a holistic approach, really. Taking care of your dyed hair is a commitment, but seeing those vibrant, healthy locks definitely makes it worth every effort!

How I keep my fine hair healthy ✨
People wouldn't think keeping fine hair healthy could be challenging, but it is quite the opposite. Thin, fine hair is delicate, making it a prime target for damage. Washing it too frequently can make your hair drier, more brittle, and more prone to shedding and breakage. I don't know if I&
