... Read moreFrom my personal experience, I've found that one of the biggest challenges in maintaining meaningful friendships is dealing with avoidance and lack of communication. Often, people who avoid discussing issues or feelings can inadvertently create distance that feels insurmountable. It's important to recognize that everyone needs time to think and process, but total silence with no effort to reconnect usually signals deeper issues. I used to beg for attention and explanations, which drained my emotional energy and left me feeling unvalued. But eventually, I realized that mature relationships require both parties to communicate openly and respect each other's boundaries. If someone consistently refuses to talk or engage honestly, it may be a sign that they are not ready or willing to invest in the connection. Recognizing the difference between needing space to think and complete avoidance helped me set healthier boundaries. It also taught me that friendship is a two-way street; it shouldn’t be only me making an effort. This balance is essential because, at some point, everyone needs to communicate their feelings and intentions clearly. Otherwise, misunderstandings and resentment build up. In conclusion, time is like a river—constantly flowing. We should never waste it holding onto relationships where communication is one-sided or where people only interact on their terms. Instead, focus on those who prioritize honest conversations and mutual respect, making friendships and relationships truly worthwhile.

Stop settling. Let me repeat - STOP SETTLING. In any relationship. You should be extremely selective about who you spend your time with and who has access to you. For most of my life, I’ve had certain friendships that don’t make me feel GOOD. Often, this was out of fear of feeling alone.
