Especially when it comes to children, grief can create profound shifts in behavior and emotional responses. From my own observations and discussions with others, I've noticed that children who have lost someone important start to respond very differently to the energy around them—they quickly sense when things feel insincere or 'fake.' This heightened sensitivity often means they no longer tolerate superficial interactions, leading them to become more guarded or distant. This protective behavior isn’t about rejecting others; rather, it's a way to shield themselves from further emotional harm after such a significant loss. Similarly, adults who have endured the loss of parents, siblings, or close friends often speak of a change in how they love and connect with people. Grief adds a weight to relationships, causing one to deeply value genuine connection but also to be more cautious about who they trust. The phrase “losing someone changes you forever” resonates strongly because it’s not just the absence that affects us, but how that absence brings a new understanding of vulnerability, protection, and sometimes silence. Time passes, but for many, the impact of loss never fully leaves; it silently shapes their worldview and emotional resilience. In my experience, it’s important to approach those who are grieving with patience and genuine care, recognizing the invisible layers of protection they might have developed. Gratitude and focused empathy go a long way. By appreciating how loss changes a person’s capacity to relate to others, we can offer better support and help them navigate their grief journey with understanding and kindness.

Try pigeon pose to release grief & sadness.
When grief settles deep in your hips, Pigeon Pose helps you release it. The hips are one of the body’s primary emotional storage centers. When we experience grief or heartbreak, tension gathers in the hip flexors, psoas, and glutes — the same muscles that contract during stress or fear. Over
