French Press Cold Brew

Here is a very easy way to to make your own cold brew at home. I like this way because it’s just so easy! This will also save you money from buying premade cold brew at the store and will likely taste better!

Ensure you buy a bag of fresh coffee grounds or coffee beans and grind them yourself! Fresh coffee is key to a good tasting cold brew. The only other thing you’ll need is a French press which you may likely already have! If not I got mine fairly cheap at ikea.

Equipment needed

French press

Ingredients

3/4 cup coffee grounds

Filtered water, about 4 cups

Directions

1. Grind 3/4 cup of coffee beans or measure 3/4 cup of coffee grounds.

2. Dump into an empty French press.

3. Fill French press with filtered water, leaving just enough room for the lid and strainer. Ensure the strainer is not touching the water. Alternatively you could just cover the French press with plastic wrap.

4. Let sit at room temperature for about 24 hours. You can leave as long as 48 hours for a stronger concentrate. Do not keep in the fridge during this process. This could cause the French press to shatter due to pressure when straining in the next step.

5. Strain your cold brew by pressing the strainer down into French press.

6. Now pour cold brew into a sealable container and store in the fridge.
