Quick Upper Body Workout
Upper body workout, but quick one today. I didn't have much time so I did some essential workouts to target most muscles.
MTS Decline Press: 60lbs. 3x8
MTS Row: 95lbs, 3x8
Cable Overhead Extension: 50lbs, 10; 65lbs, 2x10
Dumbbell Preacher Curl: 30lbs, 3x8
Zottman Curls: 25lbs, 10
From my experience, fitting in a quick yet effective upper body workout can be a game changer, especially when time is limited like in Evan’s routine. This workout efficiently covers the major muscle groups using compound and isolation exercises such as MTS Decline Press, MTS Row, Cable Overhead Extension, Dumbbell Preacher Curl, and Zottman Curls. One tip I’ve found valuable is to focus on proper form over heavier weights during a short session to avoid injury and maximize muscle engagement. Tracking your workout with devices like GARMIN® or STRAVA, as noted in the OCR content, helps monitor heart rate and calorie burn, keeping motivation high and progress measurable. For instance, maintaining an average heart rate around 83 bpm during a 41-minute session can indicate effective moderate-intensity training that promotes both strength building and fat loss. Incorporating supersets or minimal rest periods between exercises can further improve workout efficiency, mimicking circuit training that saves time while enhancing cardiovascular benefits. Additionally, warming up briefly before starting and cooling down with light stretching helps reduce muscle soreness and improve recovery. Lastly, regularly updating your workout weights and tracking total volume—as referenced by the 3,091 kg total volume in the OCR data—ensures progressive overload, a crucial factor in muscle growth and strength improvement. Even on busy days, taking 40 minutes for a targeted upper body workout like this can keep your fitness on track and your muscles challenged without sacrificing too much time.
