Even though this meal was way over my calorie target at 2380, I was pleased to see how high my protein and fiber counts were—126 grams of protein and 29 grams of fiber are great for muscle maintenance and digestive health. One of my favorite snacks to boost protein without dairy is a Sanpellegrino sparkling drink made with real fruit juice, and I recently discovered a protein shake made with almonds that offers 20 grams of protein per serving and avoids dairy products. These kinds of non-dairy protein options have helped me diversify my meals while managing calories. Also, incorporating a bowl of cranberry almond crunch cereal with almond milk and blueberries adds antioxidant-rich fruits and additional fiber, supporting both taste and nutrition. I’ve found that even on days I exceed calorie goals, focusing on nutrient density and macronutrient balance—especially protein and fiber—helps me feel satisfied and energized. If you’re trying to increase protein intake while keeping dairy-free or looking to add fiber, combining plant-based shakes with cereals and fresh fruit can be a practical and delicious strategy. Tracking macros daily can inform your choices and help you adjust portions, so you don’t compromise nutrition even on higher-calorie days.
