I finally tried making fried chicken using gluten-free Cheez-Its… and I completely understand the hype now. 🤤
The outside is ridiculously crunchy with a cheesy, buttery flavor, while the chicken stays juicy inside. Even my family kept sneaking pieces off the plate before dinner. 😂
✨ What I used:
• Chicken tenders
• Gluten-Free Cheez-Its (crushed)
• Gluten-free flour
• Eggs
• Milk
• Garlic powder
• Onion powder
• Salt & pepper
• Avocado oil spray
💛 My tips:
✔️ Crush the Cheez-Its into fine crumbs with a few larger pieces mixed in for extra crunch.
✔️ Let the breaded chicken rest 10-15 minutes before air frying.
✔️ Spray both sides generously with oil for that golden fried finish.
✔️ Air fry at 390°F for 10-14 minutes, flipping halfway, until the chicken reaches 165°F.
The coating turned out crispy, cheesy, and stayed on really well. This is definitely going into our regular dinner rotation!

... Read moreIf you're looking for a fun and delicious twist on traditional fried chicken, using gluten-free Cheez-Its as the breading is a game changer. I've found that the mix of finely crushed crumbs and a few larger pieces really adds an amazing crunch that holds up well during air frying.
One tip I found helpful is to let the coated chicken rest for at least 10-15 minutes before cooking. This little step allows the coating to better adhere to the chicken, preventing it from falling off and ensuring each bite is full of cheesy goodness. Spraying the breaded chicken generously on both sides with avocado oil or cooking spray is essential to achieving that golden, crispy finish.
Air frying at 390°F for around 12 minutes, flipping halfway, cooks the chicken perfectly while retaining juicy tenderness inside – a healthy alternative to deep frying! If you want to cater to dietary restrictions like nightshade sensitivities, omit the smoked paprika and use extra garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley instead.
For dipping, I highly recommend trying honey ranch or a garlic mustard ranch sauce – these complement the cheesy crisp exterior beautifully.
By incorporating gluten-free Cheez-Its, you can elevate your fried chicken game with a unique, addictive flavor and texture. It's become a regular meal in my household, especially for those gluten-free comfort food nights where you want a treat that's both satisfying and easy to prepare. If you haven’t experimented with Cheez-Its in your cooking yet, this recipe is a perfect place to start!
