Tips for New Grad Nurses

I remember when I first started out as a nurse.

9 years later I've learned so much that I can share with you.

- Don't stress about your first job. You're not stuck there forever! Gain experience and learn a lot!

- Do a New Grad residency program. It is so helpful and they give you more time than normal orientation

- Do not over share at work. Keep your personal life just as it is, personal

- Your coworkers are not your friends, remember that

- Always ask questions, there are literally NO dumb questions

If you have any questions I’d love to answer them! Feel free to leave them below or drop me a message!

... Read moreStarting your career as a new grad nurse can be both exciting and overwhelming. Along with the tips already mentioned, it’s crucial to build a support system at work. Connecting with experienced nurses can provide guidance and mentorship, easing the transition. Engage in continuous learning; take advantage of workshops and seminars offered by your workplace or local nursing organizations. Networking is essential – attend nursing conferences or join online forums to meet other professionals in the field. Moreover, self-care should not be overlooked. Nursing can be demanding, and it’s vital to establish a balance between work and personal life. Take time for hobbies, exercise, and relaxation to avoid burnout. Embrace your emotions and seek help if you feel overwhelmed. Remember, every experienced nurse once started as a new grad, and it’s okay to ask for help. Building resilience and confidence will come with time and experience, so stay positive and focused on your growth.
