I want my daughter to know that it’s okay to assert herself and defend her values without compromising her compassion. Encouraging this mindset can lead to greater self-esteem and emotional intelligence, which are crucial skills in life. Moreover, teaching a child that they have the right to stand up for themselves in the face of injustice or bullying fosters independence. It also reassures them that they don't have to tolerate mistreatment silently. This approach aligns with the idea that being strong and kind are not mutually exclusive but complementary traits that together create a more rounded, confident individual.
