Your 9-5 is NOT Safe Either
People tell me building a business online is risky.
And I always ask them the same thing, is your job actually safe?
Can they make you redundant?
Yes.
Can they cut your hours without warning?
Yes.
Can they change your shift pattern and not ask you once?
Yes.
Can they restructure your whole department and hand you a letter on a Friday afternoon?
Absolutely yes.
Because that happens.
It happened to people I know.
People who gave ten, fifteen, twenty years to a company and got a redundancy letter and a handshake.
People who called in sick with genuine illness and came back to a disciplinary.
People who asked for a pay rise after three years of going above and beyond and got told “it is not in the budget right now.”
People who built their whole life around a job that decided one day it did not need them anymore.
So when someone tells me that building something online is risky, I want to understand what they think they are currently doing.
Because if someone else controls your hours, your wage, your shifts, and ultimately whether you have a job at all, you are already in a risky situation.
You are just not being rewarded for it.
At least when you build your own thing, the risk belongs to you.
The decisions belong to you.
And so does everything you build.
That is not reckless.
That is just honest.
