It's not just about not talking, but about how you talk. Are you truly listening to each other, or is one person always feeling not heard? When you bring up an issue, does it get brushed aside? In my experience, when conflict is left unresolved, it doesn't just disappear; it festers, turning small disagreements into huge walls between you and your partner. It creates a space where understanding can't grow, and resentment can easily take root. Then there's the critical issue of respect. Oh, how crucial it is! When there's no respect in the relationship, it erodes everything. This can show up in many ways: constant criticism, dismissing your feelings, or even those little white lies (or bigger ones) that chip away at trust. It makes you feel invalidated and definitely not supported. I remember a time I felt like my partner prioritized everything else over my feelings, and it was so difficult to feel valued in that dynamic. This kind of disrespect can lead to deep relationship pain. Another deep sign that hit home for me was when I started losing a sense of myself. It's subtle at first, maybe you change hobbies or friends to suit them, but then you wake up one day and realize you're not truly 'you' anymore.
