Embryo biopsy for PGT

During an embryo biopsy, roughly 5-10 cells are removed from the embryo’s trophectoderm. The biopsied sample is sent to a genetic testing company, while the embryo is typically frozen in the IVF lab. The genetic testing company analyzes the DNA in the biopsied sample and generates a report based on the analysis. The embryo can remain frozen in liquid nitrogen indefinitely.

PGT (Preimplantation Genetic Testing) primarily helps identify embryos with chromosomal abnormalities, known as aneuploidy, before transfer. This means we're trying to find the embryos with the correct number of chromosomes, which significantly increases the chances of a successful implantation and reduces the risk of miscarriage. Imagine being able to select an embryo that has the best possible chance of leading to a live birth – that's the power of PGT-A (aneuploidy screening).
