Beyond food, the city’s beaches such as La Concha and Zurriola are perfect for both relaxing and engaging in water sports like surfing. The gentle waves and scenic views provide a peaceful escape as well as adventure. I also enjoyed hiking up Monte Urgull for panoramic views of the bay and exploring nearby coastal villages in Gipuzkoa for a more tranquil experience. San Sebastián’s festivals, especially the International Film Festival and Basque Week, offer authentic glimpses into local traditions and art. The city feels welcoming and energetic year-round making it a fantastic destination regardless of season.
