Fungal acne?

On todays adventure: treating potential fungal acne

If you’ve been following me since the beginning, you know I’ve been struggling with my skin and I have not been able to figure out what’s wrong.

In recent months, I discovered that my skin was super sensitive to pretty much any oil and tocopherol, so I’ve been doing my best to avoid those ingredients and my skin was actually getting better.

But within the past weekish, along my jawline and my temples and honestly down to my neck, seems to be getting itchy and I’m noticing more of those white pustules.

By no means am I a dermatologist or medical professional but I’ve shared my journey from the start and I will continue to share what I try, so take what I do with a grain of salt because what works for me might not work for you!

I’m pretty much going to leave everything else in my skin care routine exactly the same except I’m going to swap my cleanser for @headandshoulders!

I’ll keep you updated if this helps!

If it doesn’t my shampoo and conditioner do also have oil but I don’t want to swap absolutely everything yet until I just try swapping my cleanser and seeing if it helps!

... Read moreFungal acne, scientifically known as Malassezia folliculitis, is often confused with regular acne. It emerges due to an overgrowth of yeast on the skin, particularly in oil-prone areas. Symptoms typically include itchy, inflamed pustules, which can be mistaken for acne. It’s essential to identify triggering factors, such as certain skincare products that may exacerbate the condition. Many find relief by using anti-fungal treatments or modifying their skincare routines. Products with ingredients like salicylic acid or sulfur can help treat fungal acne effectively. Additionally, incorporating a gentle cleanser into your routine can mitigate irritations. Avoiding heavy oils and comedogenic ingredients is crucial, as they can worsen fungal acne. Always consult a dermatologist for personalized advice to find a suitable regimen that keeps your skin healthy and free from irritants. Keeping the skin balanced and using non-comedogenic products can also play a vital role in management. Maintaining a consistent routine while introducing new products gradually can help you figure out what works best for your skin. Remember, everyone’s skin is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.
