Turning God into a Habit
When you wake up in the morning where does your mind naturally go?
When you lay down at night what are your final thoughts of the day?
During your downtime throughout your day, what fills those moments?
If we’re being honest, for most of us it’s not God.
It’s to our wants and needs, our fears and worry. And usually that becomes picking up our phone and scroll scroll scroll until something else catches our attention.
I have had to retrain my mind to go towards God instead of all the other distractions and this is something we have to continually be mindful of and practice being in the presence of God. It’s odd at first because we have trained ourselves in this digital age the constant need of stimulation from earthly things.
The more you stay in the presence of God, you will find peace in ways you never thought you could. The peace and relaxation we try to find with our digital distractions, can only be found in the presence of God.
It says in Psalms chapter 16 verse 8, “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Then in Colossians chapter 3 verse 2, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
I’m not speaking out against social media and the internet because they are great things and can be very beneficial if used correctly. Just be mindful and make time for God.

In today's fast-paced digital world, it's all too easy to get caught up in distractions that pull us away from our spiritual journey. Many individuals unconsciously allow their daily thoughts to gravitate towards worries, social media, or other earthly distractions. To establish a fruitful relationship with God, we must break this cycle and intentionally seek Him throughout our day. One effective approach to foster this connection is through daily routines that incorporate spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, and scripture reading. Morning devotionals can set a positive tone for the day, encouraging individuals to align their day with divine principles. Moreover, setting reminders throughout the day can serve as gentle nudges to turn our minds towards God, especially during moments of anxiety or stress. Additionally, creating a designated time to engage with God, whether through quiet time in nature or journaling about our thoughts and challenges, can strengthen our resolve to keep Him at the forefront of our lives. Implementing these habits not only enhances our spiritual well-being but also allows for a deeper sense of peace that transcends the momentary relief often sought in social media or other distractions. The more time we consciously invest in God's presence, the more we discover that true peace and joy come from Him alone. As expressed in Psalms 16:8, keeping our eyes on the Lord assures us that we will not be shaken by the world's turmoil. Engage actively, and let turning to God become a natural reflex in our daily lives.
